Connor’s dad has had the LOTOJA race on his Bucket List, and
well this year he trained so hard for it and he finished it! He was worked so
hard this summer and rode and trained mostly by himself for hours every
Saturday and multiple rides throughout the week. I have never had the privilege
of going to Jackson with them for LOTOJA so I was excited to get the chance
this year. I love Jackson and have gone there a lot, but never for this reason!
Because we were going to be in the car off and on all day and spending it
waiting for Alan to come into the stops and help him before heading to the next
one, we decided to leave Carson so he would have more fun and so would we. We
started the day pretty early and headed to Preston, then onto Afton, then
Alpine and then Jackson. After we left him in Preston, we had a little drive
and some waiting before he would make it to Afton. That is where the climbs are
and where the bikers take a different route. We got to Afton and had lunch and
waited for a while for him to come in. It was fun seeing all the bikers come in
and hang out with family. When he came in he was so discouraged about his time
so far but he was doing awesome. We then headed to Alpine and he got there so
fast! We did not wait long at all. Then we were off to Jackson. That is the
last leg and so we stopped at as many of the shoulder/rest stops as we could to
wait for him and cheer him on. Eden made some pretty interesting posters that
the riders loved and we loved cheering them on and keeping them going. We got
to Jackson and to the finish line and waited for him to come in. He came in 10
minutes after the finish line closed, but he was awesome! I could have never
finished it let alone done it in 14 hours! We are so proud of him!
